This place is located on the confluence point of Godavari and Kapila rivers at a distance of about 8 – 10 km. from Panchavati. This is said to be the same place where Laxman ji had cut off the nose of Shurpanakha. The place has got the name ‘Nasik’ because the cutting of nose had taken place here. The word ‘Nasika’ means nose.
