As mentioned before Shri Ram had travelled far long along the coast of river Mahanadi. Apparently shri Ram had crossed Mahanadi from this place. After walking along the coast for some distance, he left the river’s course. It is believed that Kark Rishi had tought Shri Ram, the art of destorying the enemy’s weapons.
