It is believed that Lord Vishnu had worshipped Lord Shiva before he had taken the Vamanavtaar (the dwarf incarnation). The Vamaneshwar Shivlinga installed by Lord Vishnu is a place of great devotion. Vishwamitra had shown this place to Shri Ram.
