Lakhneshwar Diha

The word 'Lakhneshwar' is the distorted version of Laxmaneshwar and diha means an old high earth platform like a hillock. As per the folk tale. Laxman ji had placed a Shivlinga on a platform when he was going with muni Vishwamitra along the bank of Saryu. A few hundred years ago an ancient Shivlinga was found from a nearby pond. King Dube of Nagahar wanted to take it along with him but did not succeed. then he had built a temple at that place. Even today, this temple is a centre of religious activities.
